User Researcher

Harmonix is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and organized individual to join our team as User Researcher. You’ll work with our project teams to enhance the quality, usability, and overall fun of our games through methodical user research, testing, and analysis.



  • Collaborate with project teams throughout development in identifying valuable areas of exploration for user testing, both in-house and through other resources
  • Develop and deploy appropriate research and testing methodologies to improve and validate our products
  • Orchestrate all aspects of targeted recruitment, scheduling, and managing of playtesters, including expanding our playtester reach
  • Prepare and proctor tests with members of the public in a manner to gain as unbiased feedback as possible
  • Collate and present the results and interpretation of your research in a manner that is timely, thorough and actionable
  • Keep up to date and incorporate new methodologies, resources, and learnings for user testing and behaviors across the games and software industries
  • Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with external providers of consumer insights services to augment our internal capabilities



  • Passionate about music and games; excited to improve design based on player behaviors, wants, and needs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Organized, self-directed, efficient, and adept at juggling multiple priorities
  • Able to interpret qualitative and quantitative feedback in a manner that engages other team members with a clear, persuasive, thoughtful, and insight-supported narrative
  • Experience in a broad range of methodologies including: demographic research, interviews, surveys, usability testing, RITE testing, etc.



  • A demonstrable history of impact and influence on product experience design
  • Expertise/familiarity with statistical tools
  • Coursework in psychology, human-computer interaction, or a related user experience field
  • Music skill/experience a plus
