Director, Music Supervision (Los Angeles, Ca)

A music supervisor is a Los Angeles-based music business expert, who has a sophisticated knowledge of the music industry and is responsible for securing music use and artist participation for inclusion in our games, add-on content, advertisements, trailers, promos, partnerships or any other form of visual media.  He/she/they will act as a liaison for Harmonix with the music community to clear music, gather assets and manage any music industry inquiries. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the pursuit and execution of the music vision of Harmonix games. Work with project leads/producers to develop the best soundtracks for the vision of the games by recommending and securing music licenses as well as artist participation for marketing opportunities.
  • Negotiate with music rights holders to secure legal rights for music and marketing use as well as deliver musical elements in a timely manner within production milestone schedules.
  • Facilitate contract revisions, executions, extensions and payments.
  • Manage, locate, secure and oversee music-related production and marketing assets.
  • Review marketing, PR, packaging and in-game assets to make sure music and artist name & track titles are used in accordance to music licenses.
  • Act as point of contact for artists, managers, record labels, publishers and other rights’ holders and foster broad music industry relationships.
  • Liaise with music community to strategize release roll-out and marketing opportunities for add-on content.
  • Engage artist management for artist in-game and marketing participation.

 

Qualifications

  • Entrepreneurial, self-starter with minimum 7 years music industry experience and wide network of music business contacts
  • Excellent prioritization and multi-tasking skills with an extreme attention to detail in fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience negotiating licenses with music business rights holders
  • Experience with music media industries and the marketing of music products.
  • Broad, unbiased knowledge of music, charts, and a passion for musical research
  • Dialed-in, and well versed in the current trends in entertainment, including developing and popular artists.
  • Branded entertainment integration experience at all stages: ideation, pitching, executing
  • Resourceful creative thinker who is open to new ideas
  • Superior interpersonal skills, trustworthy and intuitive
