Charity Auction Winner Chooses Name For Dance Central Dance Move

Back in December the folks at Penny Arcade held the Child’s Play Charity Dinner Auction at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle to raise money for Child’s Play, an organization dedicated to providing sick children with toys and games across 60 hospitals worldwide. As part of the fundraiser, game development studios donated rare items for the silent auction. Our team here at Harmonix offered a number of rare goodies to potential bidders including the chance to collaborate with our Design & Choreography team to assign a name to one of the moves in a Dance Central downloadable track. To sweeten the deal, we threw in a sick pair of custom Dance Central kicks. The highest bidder for the Dance Central prize pack was David Ngo, a Washington-based gamer and die-hard Dance Central fan.

“Since Dance Central sold me on the Kinect and was my addiction, I decided to give the other bidders some competition,” Ngo says.

Ngo’s generous contribution to Child’s Play has given him the opportunity to name one of the moves in Lloyd’s “Get It Shawty”, one of three new downloadable tracks available today in the Dance Central in-game store.

“Since video games are my favorite hobby, I was absolutely thrilled when I saw that I'd won and would have a chance to have something named after me in a game,” Ngo explains. “That's always been a secret goal of mine, so now I had a chance to finally make it come true.”

Some of Ngo’s favorite Dance Central tracks include Kylie Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head”, Nelly Furtado’s “Maneater” and Benny Benassi’s “Satisfaction”. As for favorite moves he really enjoys “Don’t Judge Me” and “Overload”. Be on the lookout for his new favorite move, “Ngo Go”, early on in the routine for “Get It Shawty”!

“When you're doing the ‘Ngo Go’ in “Get It Shawty”, remember that David "DTJAAAAM" Ngo named that one!”
