Firmware updating

To see the latest versions of firmware updates, visit support.madcatz.com or click here. At the moment we have firmware updates available for Xbox One &PlayStation 4 Rock Band drum sets and PlayStation 4 guitar controllers.

If you are experiencing instrument disconnects or are having a hard time drumming, it may be time to update your firmware.

We made some rolling changes to the firmware during the manufacturing process to improve response and address a few bugs. These firmware updates address those issues. The issues addressed vary by instrument.

Xbox One Wireless Guitar: No firmware update necessary.

Xbox One Wireless Drum: The firmware update solves a bug found with rapid hit detection issues. If you are breaking your streak on fast drum rolls, try the updating your firmware.

PlayStation4 Wireless Guitar: The firmware update addresses potential connection issues. If you are experiencing frequent disconnects (and have already tried a fresh set of batteries, try updating the firmware.

PlayStation4 Wireless Drum:

  • The firmware update addresses potential connection issues - if you are experiencing frequent disconnects and have already tried a fresh set of batteries, try updating the firmware.
  • The firmware update also addresses an issue with cymbal sensitivity. If you are having a hard time keeping your streak while playing with cymbals, try updating your firmware.

How do I update my firmware?

For Xbox One controllers, download the firmware updater and follow the instructions. You'll need to connect your controller to a Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 PC or Apple Mac running OS X 10.10 or higher, with an available USB port and a USB to USB Micro Cable. The USB port is in the battery compartment.

For PlayStation4 controllers, download the firmware updater and follow the instructions. You'll need to connect your controller to a Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 PC or Apple Mac running OS X 10.10 or higher, via Bluetooth. Your PC/Mac will need to have Bluetooth capability.
