How do I get hired at Harmonix?
First of all, thanks for wanting to work at Harmonix! The best way to get hired at Harmonix is to apply through the site to the job that best fits your qualifications. Please include a cover letter and answer the application questions so we can learn more about who you are and why the job is right for you. If it looks like your qualifications match what we are looking for, then we will give you a call to talk more, and then possibly set up a formal interview. (Interview tips are coming soon to this site.)
I want to apply for a position that I don't see posted on your site. What should I do?
We post descriptions for all open positions at Harmonix. However, it is very important to us to keep in touch with strong candidates, even if there isn't a position for them right now. To be considered for future positions, please click on the general application link at the bottom of the job listing page, and include a cover letter and resume. Please be sure to mention in your cover letter what department(s) or position(s) you are interested in.
Do you have internships available?
Harmonix does not currently offer department-specific internships. Interns at Harmonix usually provide general office support for the whole company. These internships can be hard work, but are a great way to get to know the company and make contacts for the future. If we have internships available, they'll be listed on this site along with all other postions...
I play Rock Band on expert. Do you have a job for me?
We love people who love and/or are awesome at our games! Development of Harmonix games requires serious skills and hard work, as well as a passion for games. Your accomplishments in the games, while not a requirement in themselves, may be indicative of another skill (musical ability, dedication, etc). Our job listings will indicate the qualifications and amount of experience required for a given position.
Your applications ask a lot of questions. Why is that?
Harmonix is fortunate to receive a ton of applications from qualified individuals. For certain positions, these specific questions help us learn more about you and your experience. Answering all the questions (even if they're not required) will give us a better picture of you, and allow you to talk about things that are difficult to convey in a cover letter.
Can you consider me for offsite or long-distance employment?
Currently, we require that all employees work in our Cambridge offices. If offsite positions become available in the future, it will be noted on the job description.
