DLC Week of 12/19: Headliners Pack!

The Grand Finale. The Final Chapter. The Endgame. With three weeks come and gone, it’s time to feature DLC songs from our fourth and final Apple Music playlist – “Headliners”. The past three weeks of DLC have been an eclectic bag of musical styles, a virtual festival of music curated with the help of Apple Music. And, like any good music festival, we’re going out with a bang. The Apple Music Headliners playlist embraces the fist-pumpers, the anthems, the singalong choruses you can get lost in. Never ones to shy away from anthemic rock, the Rock Band DLC catalog contains many gems featured on the “Headliners” playlist including Foo Fighters' “Best of You”, Imagine Dragons' “Radioactive”, The Killers' “Mr. Brightside”, My Chemical Romance's “Helena”, Pearl Jam's “Even Flow”, Radiohead's “Creep”, and more. The list goes on and on, but you get the picture.  The Challenge this week is all about the best of the best. Rock staples and some of the best-selling Rock Band DLC. So go big or go home with this week’s trio of triumphant tunes available in the Headliners Pack.

The first song in the Headliner Pack is from teenage phenom Billie Eilish. Billie recently won three of the inaugural Apple Music Awards this year including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year with her brother FINNEAS. The Los Angeles native burst onto the music scene in 2016 when the then 15-year old released a string of singles that steadily rose on the charts. In just 3 short years, Billie Eilish has released 11 Platinum and 5 Gold singles. “bad guy”, released on her multi-platinum debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, became her first chart topper on the Billboard 200. It also was nominated in two Grammy categories: Record of the Year and Song of the Year. In fact, by also garnering nominations for Album of the Year and Best New Artist, Billie became the youngest artist ever to be nominated in all four General Field categories.

Coldplay’s back and bigger than ever, with their new double album Everyday Life. Leading the charge was “Orphans”, one of the first songs revealed from the album. “Orphans” quickly reached #3 on the Billboard Hot Rock Songs chart and #3 on US Rock Airplay, leading into a chart-topping performance from Everyday Life on the UK Albums Chart. Coldplay is shaping their new era with songs like “Orphans” and it’s a great sign of things to come.

Rounding out the Headliners Pack is “Take What You Want” from Post Malone ft. Ozzy Osbourne & Travis Scott. The sixth single from Post’s recent #1 album Hollywood’s Bleeding, “Take What You Want” became the artist's ninth Top 10 song on the Billboard Hot 100 when it debuted at #8. It was also Ozzy Osbourne’s first Hot 100 Top 10 in over 30 years(the longest gap between Top 10 appearances). The haunting song incorporates a variety of styles including rock, hip-hop and trap-pop which makes it a fun song to play with friends.
