2/16 Rivals Weekly Challenge: Jason Paradise's Community Picks

“You love playing music and you love video games. Why don’t you try this out?”

It may be hard for some people to point out a moment that altered the rest of their life. For me, this seemingly innocent question from a friend changed everything.

Ten years have passed since then. My full time job now involves playing rhythm games on Twitch. My name is Jason Paradise and the latest weekly challenge will be comprised of picks directly from my community.

Why these particular songs? Each time I stream rhythm gaming on Twitch, I open up song requests to my community and play the music they’re interested in while staying positive, talking about life, and trying my best to spread smiles. If we can Full Combo some hard songs in the process? Well, that’s even better! The song choices this week are some of the picks we play most often during my broadcasts.

We’d love to have YOU join the Paradise City community on Twitch! Feel free to drop a follow at http://www.twitch.tv/jasonparadise and join us for some fun in the future! This entire week I’ll be playing Rock Band 4 exclusively, taking song requests, and playing with community members online. Hope to see you there!

Here’s a selection of songs applicable in this week’s challenge:

  • Avenged Sevenfold – “Shepherd of Fire” is filled with ridiculously fun solos and it’s great to sing along with. One of the most requested artists during my broadcasts.
  • BABYMETAL – “Gimme Chocolate!!” – Who doesn’t love a bit of chocolate? Cho! Cho! Cho!
  • Blues Traveler – “Hook” – This song was a huge part of my childhood. John Popper’s talent still blows me away.
  • DevilDriver – It’s pretty much impossible to play “Clouds Over California” and not headbang to the ending riffs. Even if you could resist the urge, why would you want to?
  • Dream Theater – “Constant Motion” – Absolute legends and one of my favorite bands. The emotion and technicality in their music is unparalleled.
  • Foo Fighters – “Something From Nothing” – Dave Grohl broke his leg during a concert and somehow still finished it. That’s awe inspiring.
  • Judas Priest – Somehow managed to FC “Screaming For Vengeance” on my first play of it. Still one of my favorite Rock Band accomplishments from the streams.
  • Megadeth – “Sleepwalker” – Mustaine is a must have in any setlist. \m/
  • Slipknot – “The Devil In I” – Corey Taylor has quickly become one of my favorite vocalists. Incredibly impressed by his range and the emotion he can convey.
  • System of a Down – Another band which really shaped my younger years. Many afternoons were spent bouncing around with friends while singing “Spiders” and other SOAD tunes.
  • Tenacious D – You can’t kill “The Metal”. Metal will live on.

There are way too many tracks to list them all individually, so look for a “W” next to songs in your catalog this week to find some surprises.

Thanks for playing in our community challenge! We really hope you enjoy the music and that you’ll join us on Twitch at http://www.twitch.tv/jasonparadise in the near future. Rock on, friends! \m/
