We’re wrapping up January with strong new Rock Band releases from Bachman-Turner Overdrive and Billy Squier.
First up, we've got "Takin' Care Of Business", the hit single from Bachman-Turner Overdrive II. One of Bachman-Turner Overdrive's most recognizable songs, it's appeared in everything from movies to games over the years. The song spent a total of 20 weeks on the Hot 100, which is the longest run of any Bachman-Turner Overdrive single. The guitar is the highlight, with lots of chord action throughout and improvisation still dropped in regularly. A well-known chorus makes for a great singing experience, and the block chords you sing at the end may put up a fight!
Following that, "Lonely Is The Night" also comes to Rock Band this week. While never released as a single, the song found an audience on AOR stations in the '80s and became a top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, cementing "Lonely Is The Night" as one of the most popular tracks of Billy Squier's career. It nearly goes without saying, but "Lonely Is The Night" will prove just as fun as other Billy Squier tracks in Rock Band, being a great all-around song to play. The harmonies sound great without being too tough, so they're an excellent choice to show off with. The drums are a nice step up as you work your way to playing comfortably on Expert, while both sets of strings keep active and varied.
