DLC Week of 2/08: Commodores and Nine Days!

Valentine’s Day is around the corner, so we’re featuring two great songs from Commodores and Nine Days to set the mood.

“Brick House” starts us off, the Commodores’ hit also currently featured in DropMix. The track is featured on the band’s self-titled album, which topped the R&B/Soul chart for eight weeks. One of the band’s biggest hits, it was a Top 10 hit in the US and a Top 40 hit in the UK, continuing the strong performance of the album and prior singles. The song’s just as fun on bass as you would anticipate, with a lot of movement and even some slap bass going on. The guitar also plays a funk line, but just a bit more sparse than other funk. Vocals are easily the toughest part, with a lot of subtle shifting to change things up through the whole song.

Nine Days is responsible for "Absolutely (Story Of A Girl)", one of the biggest songs of 2000. Hitting the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, the song's memorable music video also received regular rotation. Every part of the song is active, and get ready for the rhythm section to surprise no matter how well you may know the song. The guitar part keeps changing things up, going so far as to play the first two verses entirely differently! With the whole song being fun and the iconic chorus, it's perfect to pull out at parties.

Songs can be purchased individually for $1.99 each. The Rock Band Rivals Season 4 Spotlight Pass Plus can be purchased for $15.99.
