Huge hits from Darius Rucker and Meredith Brooks make their way to Rock Band 4 this week!
Darius Rucker’s version of “Wagon Wheel”, from his acclaimed album True Believers, is a welcome addition to the DLC store. Originally recorded by Old Crow Medicine Show, Rucker’s take on “Wagon Wheel” made an immediate impact both at radio and retail. While “Wagon Wheel” went triple platinum, True Believers debuted at #1 on the Top Country Album chart and #2 on the Billboard 200. In 2014, Darius Rucker deservedly won a Grammy Award for Best Country Solo Performance for “Wagon Wheel” – his 3rd career Grammy (after winning two as a member of Hootie & The Blowfish). The song itself is a blast to play for all instruments – there are some great banjo riffs and drum patterns with alternating tempos. Vocalists will enjoy the big, anthemic choruses with lots of harmonies to match.
Meredith Brooks' “Bitch” made a big impact on the ‘90s musical landscape. Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, Brooks was originally a vocalist/guitarist in the bands The Graces and Sapphire before kickstarting her solo career. Her perseverance paid off and in 1997 Meredith Brooks released her debut album Blurring the Edges. “Bitch”, the first single from the album, skyrocketed up the charts and hit #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40. The song ultimately went gold and propelled Blurring the Edges to global success with over 3 million albums sold. The song has maintained popularity in part thanks to uses in films and TV. Guitarists will enjoy a nice challenge with the mid-song solo and frequent chord strumming. Drums are a steady breakbeat throughout the track. The song really shines on vocals – you know the lyrics so it’s time to belt them out!
