This week in Rock Band 4 DLC news, we’ve got two great singles from across the ocean, as tracks from Basement and Ed Sheeran join the Music Library.
First up is Basement, with “Promise Everything”, the lead single off their album of the same name. A buzz band from the UK, Basement’s US tour begins TODAY right here in Boston. Be sure to check them out when they come to your area. “Promise Everything” is a very high energy song that’s tons of fun for everyone in your virtual band, especially the drummer, as the percussion drives the song. The strings aren’t hard, but they’re active, and in a punk-tinged song like this one, very enjoyable.
Next up is “Shape of You” from Ed Sheeran. The monster lead single from his latest album, ÷, it premiered at #1 in both the UK and US, his first #1 in the latter. Both the single and the album broke streaming records when the album was released, with “Shape of You” garnering over ten million streaming plays in a single day. When charting the song, we got to make some decisions that are rarely seen, like drums being predominantly made up of acoustic guitar percussion! It’s a fun change from the norm. The guitar plays along with keyboard and then takes over the acoustic guitar. Vocals are tough, even if someone knows the song end-to-end.
