Season 11 begins with two great singalongs from Los Lobos and The Proclaimers.
“La Bamba” is the bombshell release from Los Lobos, a song that reached #1 on over ten charts around the world. In the United States, it went double platinum, matching the sales performance of the La Bamba Original Motion Picture Soundtrack it hails from. The instrumentation is strong, with recognizable guitar- and basslines to keep you active. The guitar is rarely played the same way twice, so keep an eye out for the differences. It’s a rare Spanish-language track in Rock Band, and the harmonies really stand out. Plus everyone knows the song, which never hurts!
The Proclaimers’ timeless “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” kicks off the Season 11 Spotlight Pass with a bang. A top five hit all over the world, the song launched the band into the spotlight, culminating in the song’s soundtrack appearance sending it to #3 in the US. The guitar is iconic, it’s chordy but stays on the move. Drums really pop, accenting the strong syllables in the vocals. Of course, the vocals are the highlight, with great harmonies, a well-known chorus, and more.
