DLC Week of 6/17: Children Of Nova and Imagine Dragons

Years of the Dragon and Snake

For the third week of challenges, we’re delving into the songs released in the Year of the Dragon (2012, 2000, 1988, 1976, 1964) and Year of the Snake (2013, 2001, 1989, 1977, 1965).

The title track from Children of Nova’s 2009 debut album, “The Complexity of Light” helped introduce the world to their progressive and incredibly melodic sound. Between the tricky yet fun guitar part, the meter-changing drum sections, the syncopated bass line in the main verse and the soaring vocals in the chorus, the whole band is in for a fun challenge.

Imagine Dragons’ “Follow You” was released alongside “Cutthroat” back in March as the first two singles supporting their upcoming fifth studio album. “Follow You” has topped the Billboard Rock Charts at #1 on Alternative Airplay and continues to climb other Rock charts. The song features a classic organ sound laying down the chords as well as the iconic massive drum sound and rich vocal layering synonymous with Imagine Dragons. This is definitely a track you’ll find yourself singing along to regardless of your instrument.

Check out Imagine Dragons at imaginedragonsmusic.com to grab some merch, listen to their latest singles and find out more about their new album as soon as it’s announced.

Children of Nova’s “The Complexity of Light” and Imagine Dragons’ “Follow You” will be available for $1.99.
