DLC Week of 8/20: Periphery and Silverstein

We’ve made it to the last break week before Season 18.

This week, we’ll be playing two amazing RBN tracks from Silverstein and Periphery.

“Burning Hearts” is a high energy track that comes from the Ontario-based band Silverstein, whose name was inspired by famed children's poet Shel Silverstein. Lead vocalist Shane Told delivers heartfelt lyrics accompanied by rhythmically challenging and locked drums and bass. The guitar and vocal range are equally demanding, and when it’s the guitar's time to shine it’s explosive. “Burning Hearts” comes from their 5th studio album, Rescue, and it debuted on local Ontario radio station 89X Radio in February 2011. Craving more Silverstein? Check out their newest release from March 2020, A Beautiful Place to Drown.

Game faces on, because “Buttersnips” from Periphery’s 2010 self-titled debut album is strong straight out the gate. There’s barely any time to breathe, every instrument is highly engaged, which makes “Buttersnips” fun and challenging to play on every instrument. The intro flows perfectly into the first verse, and the arrangement allows everyone in the band to show off a bit.  If you’re on vocals remember to warm up, because these melodic lines are no joke. Washington D.C. based Periphery have released an impressive six studio albums and two EP’s, the entirety of which were self-produced.

Both Periphery’s “Buttersnips” and Silverstein’s “Burning Hearts” will be available for $1.99 on the Rock Band Music Store.
