DLC Week of 8/5: AFI, HOUNDS, Kelsy Karter and Mayday Parade

Break Week 2

AFI’s 11th studio album, Bodies, was released in June 2021. The second track from that album, “Far Too Near,” blends AFI’s modern rock sound with some 80s new wave influenced basslines, synth layers and vocal melodies. This track is perfect for drummers looking for a fun, fast, and upbeat track or anyone who’s a fan of great modern rock from a legendary band.

Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, rock band HOUNDS scored their first major record deal after winning Topgolf’s “Who Will Rock You?” national band competition. From their sophomore record Cattle In The Sky, “Shake Me Up”  blends classic-sounding rock guitar riffs, fantastic vocal harmonies, and a great walking bassline with some lush organ chords to create a massively fun track whether you’re playing along or listening.

From New Zealander Kelsy Karter’s debut 2020 album, Missing Person, “Devil On My Shoulder” features a unique switch up from a straight-ahead rock chorus to a gritty and distorted verse section and eventually ends up at an ethereal half-time bridge section. Give this track a listen and you’ll be singing along to the chorus in no time.

Looking for some great new pop punk from one of the quintessential bands of the era? Mayday Parade has exactly what you’re looking for with their new single “Kids Of Summer.” With fun guitar lines, upbeat drums and an incredibly melodic and catchy chorus, “Kids Of Summer” is perfect no matter what instrument you’re playing.

AFI “Far Too Near,” HOUNDS “Shake Me Up,” Kelsy Karter “Devil On My Shoulder,” and Mayday Parade “Kids Of Summer” will be available for $1.99.

For the first time ever, this pre-season release will be available as part of the Season 23 Season Pass.
