I was searching up videos for an online rhythm game and one of the search results that came up was a Dance Central gameplay video (I believe it was in April of 2012 and it was Bodie doing "Massive Attack".) I was amazed by the level of detail the dancer's models had and it was the first game that introduced me to a Kinect. I didn't know that this type of gaming existed then.
Dance Central was the only game that made me save up to buy the console just so I could play it. I swear I've never worked so hard to save up for anything else (took me twice as long to convince my family we needed this console).
BODIE!! (Saw that one coming didn't you?) But in all seriousness I love the character designs and the personalities they showed on screen, and there wasn't much fan art to begin with (the forerunners of Bodie --I mean Dance Central art have already been featured - kei and ili).
I almost hunted them down to ask them to draw even more fan art (oh wait, I did do that). Basically I just want more people in on this thing and this is the only way I know how to express my love for it.
I use photoshop for digital works mainly since I am more used to it but I tend to doodle poses or rough ideas on paper first to see how it would look. Not sure if I would call it a style but I start out with a semi rough shape on one layer and add colours beneath it and, if I'm feeling ambitious enough, add a paint-over layer above just to smooth the whole image out.
I took up Advertising in College because it was the Jack-of-all-trades course --they had media production, fashion, animation, painting and more all rolled into a 4 year plan. I am currently a freelance artist and I spend my spare time drawing so I guess it's both my job and hobby.
My process is write them all down the moment they come to mind and draw them up when I have spare time. Most of my ideas come from watching shows or reading comics and thinking, hey this feels like a situation so-and-so could be in.
I've also met a TON of awesome people because of Dance Central and sometimes we just throw ideas or prompts around and then it just grows. Normally what comes out is a quick sketch but it's something.
Never stop drawing. Don't stop for 20 years. And after that keep on drawing. This is really about perseverance and how much you really want this path in life that you would endure all hardships including harsh criticisms and years when you would even doubt your own skills.
I'm sorry this suddenly got all serious. But no really you just need good focus.
