These pieces will give us a chance to recognize some of our most dedicated and inspiring Dance Central community members, and give you a chance to meet your fellow dancers! We’ll talk with cosplayers, Fitness Challenge participants, artists, and more, so check back each month to see whose turn it is in the Spotlight.

Meet the Dancer

Hi, my name’s Rodrigo. I live in Brazil, in the city of Sao Paulo.

Author's Note: Rodrigo is well known for his great Dance Central split-screen playthrough videos, many of which he dresses up as Dance Central characters for. They're fun to watch!

Check out Rodrigo's YouTube channel here.

Dance Central Beginnings

It started with a ride to my cousin's house. I don't usually think about buying video games because they're expensive. My cousin had the Xbox with the first Dance Central. I tried the kinect for the first time and fell in love with the game. The songs, steps, and the difficulty struck me to buy an Xbox too. After playing with my cousin though I bought my Xbox with Dance Central, too. The intention was to just have fun, as I had never danced before. But the joke was becoming serious.

Budding Videographer

I watched many videos on YouTube other players had made. My friend understands editing videos, so I asked for his help in teaching me to edit videos with split screen. It was hard work to upload my first test video, just for fun. With the growth of my YouTube channel, people asked me for videos of some particular songs, then I perfected my video editing techniques to make the better videos. Early on I used a simple device where the image was not very good, but as my YouTube channel became more popular I bought professional equipment for recording. What started on a lark became something more serious, especially with my score in the leaderboards.

Dance Central Character Cosplay

The idea started when watching videos of other events outside of Brazil, where characters like Emilia, Bodie and Glich were cosplayed at the Harmonix booth. Here in Brazil, Dance Central is little known and not publicized that way, so I waited for the main event of Latin America, BGS. At BGS in 2012, with the recent launch of Dance Central 3, I dressed up like Rasa. Making a cosplay outfit is not cheap, but when you like the game and the character it's worth every effort. And many who saw me at the fair praised my clothes and took pictures. My next challenge will be to make an outfit for Angel's DCI style.

Favorite Dance Central Characters

Angel, Miss Aubrey and Kerith.

Song Slection

The songs are sorted by difficulty in Dance Central, and the more difficult the song you record the more hits you receive on your channel. Overall I record the songs that are requested from viewers. And to make it a slightly different channel, I make special videos as Usher, special Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber videos, and many others.

Thank for the opportunity to be talking a little about this work in Brazil. The entire Brazilian community and Latin America are hoping for a new game on the new Xbox One platform. My channel in youtube is: RODRIGOBRDC. Thank you!
