5 Seconds of Summer’s hit 2014 track “She Looks So Perfect” has a catchy chorus with gang singalongs, perfect for your next Rock Band party. Tell your guitarist to practice their HOPOs as there’s an intricate HOPO pattern at the end of each chorus.
Fall Out Boy adds to their already-awesome Rock Band DLC options with “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)” from 2013. Like most Fall Out Boy songs, this requires your vocalist to take a deep breath at the beginning and power through – the lyrics are unrelenting. Get the band in on the vocal fun with 3-part harmonies in the outro chorus. Take note of the theatrical lighting with lots of strobes and quick cuts. Drummers beware – the kick syncopations and left hand playing snare make for a deceptively difficult drum part.
Neon Trees’ 2012 hit “Everybody Talks” is unbelievably catchy and is sure to be a party fave. Bass players have a fun part to play and guitarists get TWO solos (including a lengthy 40-bar solo with a surprise animation). Across all instruments the song builds in complexity and intensity leading up to the final chorus.
