Travel Back In Time With This Dance Central 2012 Recap

2012 was a huge year for our beloved dance franchise on Kinect. We used Dance Central to get in better shape, got down with tons of great DLC, launched a game that takes you teaches you the most popular dance crazes from the past and present, and more. Travel back in time with our 2012 recap for Dance Central!


January

January was a big month for resolutions as we started a movement to use Dance Central for both fitness and fun! We released blogs with helpful fitness and health tips, weekly dance challenges, and shared success stories from Harmonixers and the DC community! Stay tuned as we have some great content planned for January 2013!

A group of Harmonixers worked together to eat right and stay in shape with Dance Central. The participants chronicled their progress and shared fitness tips.

"Closer" by Ne-Yo was released for Dance Central 2. All previously released DLC is compatible with Dance Central 3!

Harmonix success stories were introduced - here's one from HMX Community Manager Annette Gonzalez.

Harmonix had a huge showing at PAX East with booths for Dance Central 2 and Rock Band Blitz! We published our entire schedule here on the blog.

June

Dance Central 3 was unveiled for the first time at E3 with a huge stage performance from Usher at the Xbox Press Briefing! We announced Dance Central 3 with a handful of awesome tracks spanning across the 70s through today as well as our first developer diary video! Relive the original announcement by clicking here.

Dance Central 3's October released date was announced mid-summer with a new set of songs! Exciting news for DC fans everywhere!

The writers of Dance Central 3's narrative broke down the game's Story mode for fans (and make an attempt to explain how time travel works).


August

The Dance Central 3 dev team gave fans a behind-the-scenes peek at your favorite characters and their new looks in the game.

September

Dance Central Intelligence recruited agents from across the globe to launch an investigation against TanCorps, a subsidiary of Tan Industries. With your help, DCI was able to reveal the contents of a heavily redacted memo from the organization revealing details on Project Lockstep - information critical in the fight against Dr. Tan. For your efforts, you were made an official member of Dance Central Intelligence and received your official badge.

October

Dance Central 3 avatar items launched in the Xbox LIVE Marketplace! Click here to get some DC swag for your avatar!

A much anticipated piece of news was released pre-DC3 launch - the full song list!

Dance Central 3 hit stores on October 16 in North America and October 19 worldwide!

We also made our first DC3 DLC announcement, which included the reveal of "Gangnam Style"!


November

Dance Central Intelligence assigned a second mission for the newly recruited agents. This time, two of the organization's elite agents had gone missing, but with your help on a missing persons campaign that required you to spread the word across social accounts, Dare and MacCoy have been recovered and are now safely back at DCI Headquarters. You received a couple of audio files for imminent review...
