DLC Week of 3/10: Brittany Howard and The Donnas

Even though Season 25 has ended, we haven’t taken our feet off the DLC pedal.  This week we’ll continue celebrating Women’s History Month by featuring women in music with a pair of amazing DLC songs from Brittany Howard and The Donnas! We also have a special Women Amplified Bonus Challenge that focuses on some of the amazing women in the Rock Band catalog.

Alabama native Brittany Howard rose to fame as the lead singer and guitarist for Alabama Shakes. After nearly a decade of fronting the award-winning quintet, Howard released her first solo album, Jaime, to critical acclaim in 2019. The album received a Grammy nod for Best Alternative Music Album and the chart-topping single “Stay High” won a Grammy for Best Rock Song at the 2021 awards. “Stay High” is full of positive vibes and offers a fun vocal challenge with a swinging backbeat.

The Donnas’ rock anthem “Take It Off” hit the airwaves in 2002 and quickly became a staple at sporting events thanks to its arena-ready big sound and catchy choruses. The Donnas initially formed in 8th grade and by high school graduation had already secured a record deal and toured around the world. Taken from their major label debut, Spend the Night, “Take It Off” would become The Donnas’ signature song, hitting the top 20 of the Billboard Alternative chart and inspiring a new generation of garage rockers. Gritty guitars and rapid-fire basslines make this a song that you’ll need to play multiple times to master.

Check out to hear “Take It Off” and the rest of their impressive releases.

Both of these tracks are included in the Season 25 Season Pass. Pick it up today and save big on the entire season of DLC.

Brittany Howard “Stay High” and The Donnas “Take It Off” are available for $1.99 each.
