DLC Week of 9/29: The Foxies and The Wonder Years

“Time Traverser”:

This week’s Rivals Challenge: “Time Traverser” offers an eclectic stylistic mix of hits from distinct time periods in music. Shuffle-play’s got nothing on the diverse new DLC coming this Thursday to the Rock Band Music Store: The Foxies “Headsweat” and The Wonder Years “Oldest Daughter.” Get ready to have your horizons broadened and your musical palette expanded!

The lead single off of Nashville-based trio The Foxies’ 2022 debut album, Who Are You Now, Who Were You Then?, is a bouncy, energetic singalong – an ideal summer jam, whatever the season. Their unique blend of genres results in songwriting mastery with “Headsweat.”

Julia Lauren Bullock’s sensual, fun vocal delivery takes center-stage, while guitarist Jake Ohlbaum’s chiming chords and drummer Rob Bodley’s pulsing rhythms propel the kinetic track throughout. The solid four-string fretwork on “Headsweat” is another standout element to pay close attention to (and attempt to play along with!).

Heavy guitars! Big drums! Emotionally charged vocals! The Wonder Years’ single that dropped in June of 2022, “Oldest Daughter,” covers a lot of sonic and sensory territory. Die-hards familiar with the band’s 2013 classic, “Madelyn,” will be interested to discover that song’s narrative continues nine years later with “Oldest Daughter” – although, like it’s predecessor, the lyrical content is relatively bleak (runaway daughter/sister with certain issues and vices who’s likely to have an unpleasant end). This is no maudlin sob-fest, though – far from it. While lead singer Dan “Soupy” Campbell’s lyrics and passionate, pleading delivery may give you “all the feels,” layers of heavy guitars and bass coupled with huge, arena-ready drumming will have you raising your fists and singing along (when you’re not wiping the tears from your eyes). Massive riffage and full-tilt energy throughout, “Oldest Daughter” is truly a gem – and fun to play!

Since 2005, The Wonder Years have been releasing material that helped to define an entire scene. From the 2022 album The Hum Goes on Forever, single “Oldest Daughter” is amongst the group’s strongest yet. Keep up with all that The Wonder Years is up to by heading over to

Each of these melodic, high-energy rockers are included in the Season 28 Season Pass. Get yours today and save big on the entire season of DLC.

The Foxies “Headsweat” and The Wonder Years “Oldest Daughter” are available for $1.99 each.
