DLC Week of 7/11: All That Remains, The Revivalists, and Stroke 9!

Continue Season 12 with DLC from All That Remains, The Revivalists, and Stroke 9!

Overcome is one of the most popular albums in All That Remains’ impressive catalog, and we’re harvesting from it again with this week’s release of “Days Without”. Overcome was a top 5 album on both the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums and Top Rock Albums charts, along with peaking at #16 on the Billboard 200. Opening with a guitar solo, “Days Without” sets the tone immediately. Guitar’s just as often playing HOPO strings as it is strumming patterns. Vocals alternate screaming to clean from verses to choruses. Drummers should get ready for a kick-fest, so warm up first.

“Change” is the third single from The Revivalists’ Take Good Care. The album is The Revivalists’ best to date, placing in the top 10 on the Billboard Alternative Albums chart. Likewise, “Change” has done well, with strong performances on the Billboard Alternative Songs and Hot Rock Songs charts, a #2 peak on Adult Alternative Songs, and an appearance on Canada’s Rock/Alternative chart! That’s a lot of charting. Speaking of charting, “Change” is a high energy performance for the whole band. Vocals get a workout and features some great back-and-forth parts. The bass isn’t particularly intense, but it’s likely the groove you’ll latch onto.
www.therevivalists.com/ will fill you in on the band’s summer. Featuring the band’s tour schedule (including a Lollapalooza appearance next month!), you’ll want to pick up tickets now before they sell out in your area. In the meantime, you can check out the music video for “Change” and head to the store for some sweet Take Good Care merch.

Stroke 9 rounds us out, with “Kick Some Ass ‘09”. Recorded specifically for video games, Stroke 9 re-recorded a song which featured in popular movies and had a strong showing on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart. “Kick Some Ass ‘09” has all the variety you need, it never stays in the same part for very long. Bassists will find themselves moving around the fretboard a lot, while guitarists will play chords interspersed with HOPO shifts. There’s even a guitar solo about halfway in! Drummers have a slightly tougher part than they’d find in the original version, with fills changed up a little bit.

For the first two weeks of release, “Change” can be purchased individually for $1.49. Songs can be purchased individually for $1.99. The Rock Band Rivals Season 12 Spotlight Pass can be purchased for $11.99.
