DLC Week of 7/18: AJR, Chiodos, and Flogging Molly!

Tons of variety this week, we’re adding DLC from AJR, Chiodos, AND Flogging Molly all at once!

“100 Bad Days”, the lead single from AJR’s recently released album Neotheater, shows the band in peak form. Neotheater debuted a short time after the single and became AJR’s first top ten album on the Billboard 200. Meanwhile, “100 Bad Days” became the band’s highest charter on the Hot Rock Songs chart and reached #3 on the Alternative Songs chart. The song’s perfect for summer, with its anthemic choruses proving tons of fun to play. Drums and harmonies are the standouts here, with drums having quick hi-hat bursts. Harmonies take on several roles, frequently unique lines from what the main vocals are doing.
AJR has a lot going on this year, and you can keep track on ajrbrothers.com After hitting the festival circuit this summer, fall brings the start of the Neotheater World Tour. Don’t wait to pick up tickets - they’re already selling out. Until then, you can hop over to your favorite music service to listen to Neotheater, featuring “100 Bad Days” and “Break My Face”, and pick up merch including SIGNED copies of the album.

Chiodos’ “Caves” joins Rock Band 4 this week, hot on the heels of last month’s “Lexington (Joey Pea-Pot With a Monkey Face)” DLC release. “Caves” is featured on the band’s third album Illuminaudio, which reached the top five on both the Billboard Independent Albums and Top Alternative Albums chart. Drums pounds on the toms during the early verses, but don’t think you’ve got it down with just that. There’s plenty of fills and tough hand/foot patterns to practice on. Strings will both hit blasts, with guitar getting a few HOPO licks in during the strumming.

Debuting at #4 on the Billboard 200, Flogging Molly’s Float kicked off with “Requiem for a Dying Song”, the first track and first single from the album. Showcasing the album’s tilt towards more politically infused subject matter, “Requiem for a Dying Song” hits hard the whole way through. Bassists will be moving around the fretboard, while guitarists get strummy chords. Drummers won’t face anything too complex, but there’s some quick double snares and occasional bass pedal change-ups to be had.

For the first two weeks of release, “100 Bad Days” can be purchased individually for $1.49. Songs can be purchased individually for $1.99. The Rock Band Rivals Season 12 Spotlight Pass can be purchased for $11.99.
