Harmonix at the Boston Music Awards

Hey folks,

Quick update from the “cool things” department…

On Thursday night, Dec 7th, Harmonix sent a delegation of employees to Boston’s House of Blues to attend the Boston Music Awards. As a sponsor, we got a bunch of free tickets, played DropMix with some of Boston’s most talented folks, and also saw our COO Chris Rigopulos and DropMix producer Tom Bartlett, present the award for Best DJ.

The Boston Music Awards is an annual event that celebrates the Boston Music scene with performances, interactive activations and 1600+ of Boston’s movers and shakers hanging out together. Harmonix has been working with tech and music in the Boston area for over 20 years, with many musicians posing as game developers as their “day job” while they then transform into their true selves on weekends, tour vacations, and the like. So, it’s fun to get the chance to mingle.

At the event, the Harmonix influence was on full display. A number of award winners were folks that our Rock Band Rivals community will be aware of:

  • Julie Rhodes (Best Americana Artist and Best Female Vocalist)
  • STL GLD (Album of the Year, Producer of the Year)
  • Bearstronaut (Electronic Artist of the Year)
  • Animal Flag (Rock Artist of the Year)
  • Ruby Rose Fox (Singer/Songwriter of the Year)

We’re psyched to have songs from all of these bands in the game – you may even catch a cameo or two in Rockudrama.

We took a bunch of pictures, check them out below!
